Victims are interested
in branches that fall from trees
and don’t have to wave with the wind,
but instead crack beneath the feet
of those who step on them.

Victims are interested
in leaves that turn brown, orange and yellow,
then blow into piles
that children jump into.

Dried out, lifeless, part of the ground,
tree droppings wait for snow.
